Purchasing Power

One BIG con of this homemaker role is a lack of purchasing power...... Yes, I have this growing resentment about not having as much ability to buy whatever I want... yes, what I want, not I what I need. I hate to justify it all the time. I know the clever market is targeting at the trendy financially independent working women, and yet this poor homemaker mummy does fall into this temptation too. I succumb to the many shopping sprees.... I love books, I love pretty clothes, I love accessories, I love lattes.... Ah ya...sometimes I feel so guilty spending especially when I dun work for it. So I muz say working does helps me to feel more justified to spend on the things I like..... BUT yet, deep down in my heart, I know there is a big price to pay for being a homemaker. I do enjoy being with my children, yet ....... errrrr sometimes I really like to have something I like too, like any women. YET, a prudent wife is what God likes....

Increase your love bank units

I have been reading this excellent book by Dr Harley about Fall in love and Stay in Love.
According to him, "Being in love is vital to a happy marriage. And it's "a feeling that can be sustained indefinitely," says Dr. Willard Harley as long as the right conditions are met. In Fall in Love, Stay in Love he outlines those conditions and shows you how to meet them in your marriage.
He used the illustration of a love bank. We deposit love units when we meet each other's emotional needs and make withdrawals when we don't. According to him, there are 10 cruical emotional needs. It is usually during the courtship days that love units are deposited consistently when we meet each other's emotional needs and love busters are avoided at all cost to prevent unneccessary withdrawal of love units. And sad to say that many married couples start to make frequent withdrawals till they suddenly realise their love units for each other are depleting. This book gives me a wake up call about how we usually take each other for granted as the years passed by and allow our love busters to destroy marriage. This book affirms my belief that marriage needs CONSCIOUS effort to make it still romantic, loving and alive!

I must say My dear ah lao has recently deposited lots of love units when he waited for me at the pavilion with a bouquet flower. WOW!! I was really touched by this unexpected romantic gesture. Thank you for that lovely surprise.

Divide and Distract my TERRIBLE TWOS

My latest strategy with my terrible TWOS, Prince Gab and Princess Venecia is DIVIDE AND DISTRACT. They have been driving me nuts and threaten my sanity alot lately. I came up with a plan. I will make sure they are miles apart and at least one party is engrossed with an activity, and usually that will be my favourite babysitter, TV!!! Dora has been the best choice recently and that keeps me INSANE when they are not screaming at each other. Another brilliant way is to lock one of them in the playpen.... hee hee....I hope this strategy will last...

Prince Gabriel turned ONE

Yes yes, mummy finally remembered to post his birthday pics.... My dear ah boy turned one in August. We did not have a big celebration. I guess that happens when u have three kids. We are simply too tired to do alot of things nowadays.

His current milestone is DiDi can stand by himself for at least 5 secs, but is still afraid to venture on his own. He still prefers his primitive mobile style, crawling and yelling at everyone else.
